Panthers v CD Phoenix Match Report

11th November 2018
The Safferys girls got off to a flying start from the first whistle taking an early lead. The shooting duo of Abbie Greening and Steph Batiste combined well to make the most of their first quarter chances with some excellent shooting.
Defensively the team worked well at the back making numerous turn overs and putting pressure on CD Phoenix.
The second quarter saw Safferys lose their way  slightly in attack with a few unforced errors and misplaced passes creeping into play. CD Phoenix took the opportunity to convert these mistakes with some excellent shooting by their GS.  However the team stuck at it and came off at half time still leading.
The second half saw Lorna Hall on at GD with Ella Staples going to the bench and Tiff Gervais-Brazier and Nena Copperwaite switching roles with Nena going into centre and Tiff taking the WD bib.
Saffery Panthers continued to work hard to maintain their lead and headed into the last quarter 6 goals up.  Ella Staples came back on into the GK role and Zola Saunders went to the bench.
Once again Charlotte Hill had a fantastic game  in her new WA position, linking well with Abbie & Steph. Both shooters continued to find the net despite some hard defensive pressure from CD Phoenix.
Come the final whistle Saffery Panthers had managed to extend their lead to ten and came away with a fantastic 50-40 victory.  A great team effort and well contested, enjoyable  game.
Opposition players of the match went to Nena Copperwaite and the CD Phoenix GS & GK.
Thank you to CD Phoenix for your great hospitality and a great game. Also thank you to the match scorers and umpires.
Saffery Panthers next game is at home on Sunday 25th November v Sussex Thunder
